George Hayes
Personal
George was born in in Ingersoll, Ontario on September 12th, 1963.
He will never be the most famous person in his family as his father
was better known as an NHL referee and linesman who was inducted
into the Hockey Hall Of Fame in 1988. Parenthood came quickly, his
daughter Lindsay was born in 1984...his son Justin two years later.
A "Millionaire family" only by appearance...George is
still waiting for the cheque. Professional
George's radio career began in 1981 in Woodstock, Ontario. His
radio travels took him to St. Thomas, then to Leamington. In 1986
George moved to Sarnia to work at 1110 CKJD-AM. In 1988 Country
CKTY signed on air and George was the first DJ on the station
that day. In the 90's it was THE FOX, CKSY in Chatham, The Hawk
in London and one of the original lineup for K106.3 in 1999. Then
in February 2000 he had the opportunity to get up earlier than
anyone else by accepting the role of Morning host on the Fox.
Hobbies
No matter what his weight, George has always been a runner. In
2001 he ran his first marathon in Chicago. To date he has run
five marathons. Three in Chicago, one in Ottawa and one in New
York. There is a plan to run the Las Vegas Marathon in December
2008. The training for Las Vegas is really a chance to get in
shape for a climb of Mt. Kilmanjaro in February 2009. George is
part of the Lamsar/Big Brothers Climb For Kids fundraiser team.
The Community
Aside from being a Big Brothers Kilmanjaro climber, he is also
on the organizing committee for the event. Lately he has sat on
fundraising committees for the Inn Of The Good Shepherd, Rotary
Club 5K Road Race and the Family Counselling Centre. George is
active in the local community, giving an effort to host close
to a dozen fundraisers a year. |
